Something to consider if you use micas in your soaps

Hi everyone,

Was reading the newspaper this morning and found this article and thought it might be something to consider when buying micas. I have seen some youtube videos showing mica usage in soap making.

Wow, I really had no idea. I don't use mica in my soaps but I had bought two little packets to try out. I won't be buying any more.

i love micas, and i use them a lot in my soaps. I just hope that the suppliers that i bought from didn't source their products from illegal mines like in that article.

I believe in the US, synthetic mica is used. FDA regs.

I agree with Aunt Polly, the mica's used here are synthetic...I could be wrong but I think I read that somewhere before.

US ones used for soaping should be - artificially made so that they don't have all the junk.

Suddenly "all natural" soaps are looking to be a little less ethical :/
