    Log Vs. Bar Curing

So I was clicking through a bunch of soap shop tour videos and noticed some of the shops when splitting up the big batches they seemed to cure prior to cutting the bars (or so it appeared). Any advantage one way over the other? I had figured the logs would be too hard to cut once set up but...

    A good dictation app?

I've been poking around the app store but haven't found something that sounds like what I want. I'm looking for a dictation app that would translate my dictation to text and time stamp it. I figure this has to exist but I may not know the terms to search or the apps primary function are other...

    SLS vs SLES

What are the differences of Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and Sodium Laureth Sulfate? I found a room spray that proudly proclaims on it's label "Sodium Lauryl Sulfate Free" and the second ingredient is Sodium Laureth Sulfate.(SLES). From a quick wikipedia and Google search the only thing I can tell is...

    Natures Garden Usage Rates

So I got a FO to go with a theme soap and when I used their suggested rate of 1.1% for soap (not specific to HP/CP I CPed) the scent came out pretty week. Is the usage rate just a suggestion for scenting purposes or is it like with certain EOs where there is actually a safety concern?

    Stupid Awesome Totally Frustrating Soap.

So I made one of very best soaps. Couldn't ask for a better lather and bar feel. Every time I shower with it I get a little blown away. Scent, totally awesome. Problem is I made it by taking all my old soaps of every type shredding and re-batching them. Aside from REALLY general...

I think I figured out my High Brow branding for my shave soap.

So I dropped some shave soap off for my cousin while he was at work. Not sure if stick figures violate TOS zap away if needed.

    Softness Solubility and Sodium Lactate

So El Sopa the soap spirit must have been whispering to me in my sleep again. Soapcutter had a bad dream and while I was getting her back to sleep I began wondering about soaps. Then after I started moving (and of course checked the forum forum) there was a kind of relevant thread. Maybe...

So I was running out of groceries

Mid terms and life kept me busy and I didn't get to the grocery store. Wound up raiding the soap supplies for the canned condensed goats milk. I have to tell you I made some seriously delicious french toast using chunks of sourdough and condensed goats milk in place of regular milk. Also...

    Salting out for Laurndry soap

So I want to make some laundry soap from all my old not so great soaps and scraps. I figured I'd do the brine boiled soap to get my base. Looking for confirmation of my suspicions that this will boil out the SF I can only find that it will take out the glycerine and excess lye. It will right...

Oregon Trails (soap supplies and FOs)

Just placed my first order with Oregon Trails. Placed my order online at 12:30 and got a message back with a shipping number an hour later. So far I'm impressed. Will follow up when the package gets here.

    "Roasted oils" Qs?

So I have been playing with blams and may try doing some lotions soon. I haven't ordered any oils from an actual cosmetic/soap supplier but have run into hazel, walnut and macadamia nut oils at he grocer but they all say they are roasted. Are these still good for soaping/lotions after they are...

For the DIY/personal users -Lip balm jar

Here's a cleaver re-use tut. http://www.guidecentr.al/make-your-own-lip-balm-container/qN6yWJ2kZ9 Personally I'm unsure of the super glue part. But there may be a safer product similar to the Acryli-weld that is used with acrylics for polyethylene.

    Reactions to colognes

I have a friend who I shared some soap with who liked the smell and started asking about colognes. He was looking for advice because he likes cologne or at least the idea of it but says when he tries to wear it he has a reaction where his "throat tingles and starts to close up". I know very...

    Spoungey Rebatch??

I re-batched a bunch of soaps about a week ago and everything seemed to go fine (added scents that turned out great) but the soaps feel a little spoungey. Is that at all typical of a rebatch, or symptom of anything else?

    Overheating HP?

So I've been Hping lately and have been noticing that after the cook my soap stays hot and the molds throw off heat well after they are molded up and have gotten this a couple times. Sometimes accompanied by a pocket at the very top of the soap. Should I wait longer to mold? Are my molds too...

    Usage rates??

So I'm looking at the Oregon trail scents and was curios about their usage rates. They state: "Don't be fooled by duplications, ours is the original, the very best and never, ever surpassed by anyone! You only need .3-.5 so it's actually very reasonable." This how the suggested use is stated...

    "Dry oils"?

I keep hearing the term "dry oils" in relation to balms and lotions. I'm assuming these are oils that do not leave a greasy feeling after they are applied. Oils mentioned are usually nut oils. Are most nut oils "dry" is there a list, are seed oils dry too? Like sesame or sunflower?
