Lil Outlaws...when I just made mine with the Lemon Zinger, it was very cold in fridge before adding lye, but the color was anything but Magenta. Did you use ice cubes, did you add it somewhere else in the process to maintain the color? Just curious.

:D thanks for posting milla! :D

your soaps turned out lovely!

now you make soap by cooking it in a crockpot? i have never tried that process, yet. i make rtcp. last night i did an experiment by steeping 6 bags of red zinger (same brand) in 25 oz water and it came out very dark red.

i used 16 oz in my recipe and as soon as i added the lye, it changed to dark blue/green to an alarming yellow! it eventually changed to kinda carmel yellow, but as it sat starting from the bottom, going up it changed back to the deep red with a yellow/bron layer on top.

by the time my lye cooled, i would say it was 80% red and 20% yellow/brown.

i went ahead and soaped, but this morning the soap was a light brown with a mauve tint.

as soon as i poured the lye into the oils it changed from red to brown.

i really appreciate you posting-i am truly mystified-am i missing something?

baffled in alabama!

That's crazy! My Red Zinger turned magenta in my soap.. LOVE it.
Weird.

I'm really curious to what you did to get magenta!

Very nice. I'm usually not a fan of the "look" of HP soap, but those may have changed my mind. :)

Thanks! I know what you mean about HP. I'm trying really hard to pack it into the mold to get a smooth look and to trim off the crunchy top. I am horrible at CP lately so I switched to HP this weekend to test natural colors.

Cool, this red zinger tea is capable of some wonderful things. I really like the earthy effect it's had on you soap :D

I'm terrible with internet abbreviations...what does TRS mean?

Ummmm, that was me without my glasses on last night. It was supposed to be TFS which means Thanks for sharing!

Now you've got me wanting to run out and get some celestial seasonings tea.

I was going to see about just getting some hibiscus and brewing that instead. I saw online that someone use 0.25 oz flowers brewed in 8 oz water and then pressed the flowers. They got a pink.

You could also try the Black Cherry Berry instead. I got a sampler pack and used 2 of those and a blueberry. I think the black cherry berry has a few different ingredients that might help with the pink. who knows!

Nope, just made it up strong (3 bags, 2 tsp sugar, and ??? water) then let it steep for a while.. (no idea.. 20 mins?) then measured out the right amount for my lye solution and proceeded as usual..

I added a few of the wet grounds from the teabags later on but nothing out of the ordinary.

It's the only tea that has ever turned my soap anything besides brown!

I used Lemon Ice FO from LeCrissa's.. that's it.

???

thanks anything for me to play around with. I don't sell so it doesn't matter much if it doesn't work out. :)

If you're looking for Rooibos Tea (This is Afrikaans for Redbush), I know where you can buy some from in Texas. I know cos I just sent him loads of organic Rooibos!!!! Rooibos is fantastic - it's hugely popular here as a "staple" beverage but there is an extremely successful company here that specialises only in Rooibos Bath and Body products. I brew the teas and use it like a toner. I also crush coarse salt to a finer grain and blend it with a Rooibos and Avocado Oil to make a super luxurious body scrub! Heard of Honeybush Tea - also one of my favourites.
