What are the benefits of using RTCP?

With mine its ease for sure, plus the fragrences are much stronger and stay better. I use a kitchen blender (not a stick blender) I melt all my oils together and dump them in the blender, I then get everything for my soap all ready to go and there it sits. Sometimes for hours, sometimes days...

    Is my soap too soft?

Umm yeah if its the soap you made in the aluminum pot, its trash. The lye ate up the aluminum, putting it into your soap instead of reacting with the oils. I would venture to guess it will go rancid very quickly.

    Using metal in soapmaking?

Aluminum reacts with the lye and eats the lye. Watch this video http://revver.com/video/67469/why-alumi ... o-not-mix/ I would personally throw out the batch.

I think CPOP hates me! PICS ADDED in update.

Usually when I do CPOP I will let my soap do its thing on the counter top and cut as you would for normal CP. I cut it and then I put my soap back in the oven, and turn it up to 350 and when the oven alarm dings to tell me its reached the 350 degrees I turn it off and let it hang out in the oven...

    Question

I'm sure others will chime in on this, but its not very safe to sell soaps when you are new to soap making. It takes experience to know soaping. I've been making soap as a hobby for 5 years and I still won't sell.

    FYI Pringles cans..

They are lined with aluminum. After a very distorted batch I called the company on a hunch and they are lined with aluminum. So be carefull to line with wax paper or something else if you plan on using this for a mold. ;0)

    Soaping troubles...

Also there has been a long ongoing scam where olive oil makers have been cutting their olive oil with other cheaper oils. Its highly possible you may have gotten some of this. The way to tell is by putting the oil in the fridge if it solidifys its pure, if not then more than likely you don't...

Brown Spots on 100% lard soaps?

ahh ok that explains the ash. I wanted to go with a very hard bar because my kids tend to leave the soap sitting in the tub and letting it melt.

Brown Spots on 100% lard soaps?

Hmm,well I added the FO at thin trace and it took about 5 minutes to a real trace in the blender, which is longer than usual. It looked totally normal until a day after cutting and then this. The sides of the bars are ashing but not the cut parts. I ended up cutting it a little hard because it...

Looking for article about a little boy badly burned with lye

Poor mama. Its sad that people would bash her like that. Accidents happen. I doubt anyone is 100% all the time safe.

Looking for article about a little boy badly burned with lye

Ok Q? I wear glasses, which makes it difficult to wear goggles, is there an alternative? I just wear my glasses now. I have been doing room temp soaping so the lye is literally out 5 minutes enough time to measure stir and pour into the oils. I know this dose not remove all the risk, but I...

Anyone have any Blender Soap advice?

I have been loving my blender soap! I just did a batch last night with the room temp cold process and it was super easy. My recipe was 1lb lard, 6 oz water and 2.1 oz lye. It turned out fantastic. It made 6 bars of soap which is just perfect for me as I only make soap for me and the family and...

    A Different Word for Lard

Well people LOVe ivory and it has tallow in it, they label it like this sodium tallowate, sodium cocoate or sodium palm kernelate, water, sodium chloride, sodium silicate, magnesium sulfate, and fragrance. I believe you would call the lard Sodium Lardate, as the makers of Dove, Leaver 200...

    A Different Word for Lard

I think donniej was saying instead of using lard in your soaps, use tallow as it preforms similar in soap and dosen't carry the stigma that lard dose.
