I understand that charcoal can be used to color soap a grey or black. My question is how fine does it need to be? Will it cause any 'scratchiness' in the soap?

I use activated charcoal caps from the pharmacy. Very, very fine & no scratchies.

Its gooood stuff.. add it at trace at aboue 1-2 tbsp ppo depending on how dark you want the soap...

I cant say enough about charcoal -(cb-remember my rant a whiiiiiiiile back?..lol)... love the stuff !!!!

mix it with some oil, though, or some glycerine - it just floats on water (or do I have that backward?)

I meant - the charcoal just sits on top if you try to mix it with water, so mix it with some oil before adding it to your soap.

(some colorants I mix with water first)
