Well besides soap making I recently got into gardening last year. This year we are making more room out in the yard for the garden. We don't plan to live here forever so we aren't tearing up the yard. And my mom doesn't want raised boxes sitting on the grass killing it. So we made waist-high raised beds with legs. I love them!

They are 8'x2'. Lined with chicken fence and landscapers cloth.

They cost around $30 for the wood, and then we had to buy landscapers cloth, wood stain/sealer, chicken fencing, and screws which cost around $30 more. Besides the wood, everything else will last us for a couple more beds. I hope to eventually have around 8 tall beds like this one, and then a few shorter beds for things like tall corn and heavy pumpkins/melons. $30-ish per bed is not bad at all! I saw a boxed one that doesn't even have legs for $200 at the store!

Very nice! What do you plant?

Thanks! I've planted a few typical veggie plants (tomatoes, corn, peppers, potatoes, etc.) I didn't have much luck last year because I started off too late. This year we are getting ready now with the raised beds. I had the best luck with peppers, corn, and green beans. So we are definitely planting more of those this year. I like to use heirloom varieties whenever possible instead of hybrids. :)

Really you would plant corn in a box? I love it! There is no way to grow anything but rocks where I live this is a wonderful idea!

Yep! We have terrible clay soil here (Oklahoma). There is a special hybrid called "On deck" or something that you can plant in containers. But I didn't have much trouble growing the heirloom "Golden Bantam" last year in my small raised beds on the patio. :)
