SO...I just tried my very first salt soap... I used Paul's 80% method and I used sea salt which was very white.

Question: Does the salt affect the color of the soap? For the 2# batch, I used 1/4 tsp Manganese Violet pigment powder. As soon as I poured in the salt, it turned a color that looks like wet sand.

Will the violet color come out later?

Weird.

Other than that, I think all went well. We'll see, I guess...

I unmold and cut in 4 hours, right?

Kristin, I have never had a colour change due to the salt itself. It does cause the batter to heat up more, and if you use milk or some FO's containing vanilla, it might turn a darker brown colour.

It is not the salt. Mang violet is not pretty in CP it turns brown grey
