Hello, I made a batch of soap, it was larger than amounts I normally make and after cutting I found it had this dark line through it. I used a fragrance oil at 6%ppo, it was a fragrance oil that would turn the soap dark tan so I lightened with titanium dioxide. The soap did accelerate and I ended up glopping it into the mold. No other colorants went in, and no extracts except coconut milk. I’m wondering what this is as I’ve never had this before!

Also, slightly unrelated, when calculating fragrance oil usage rates on brambleberry or nurture soaps, are you calculating using your total oil weight or the weight of your soap with oil and lye before cure?

Many thanks for any help!

Those are what they call glycerine rivers. It’s generally caused by gelling soap, sugars from milks, full liquid and slow cooling. Also more noticeable with TD. Using less liquid will help. It’s only cosmetic and won’t affect the soap itself.
