Are there any tutorials anywhere on smoothing out the sides of soap bars and/or beveling?

I don't know if there are any tutorials or not (never looked), but whenever I find myself with rough spots on my soap, I take one of those a 3-M green scrubby things for scouring pots and pans, some alcohol (or water), and then I spray the rough spot with the alcohol or water and 'sand' the rough spots smooth with the green scrubby thing. Works great. To bevel, I've always used a potato peeler, although I just recently bought a beveler from LotionCrafters to get more uniform bevels on each edge.

IrishLass :)

I usually leave the edges of my bars rustic, and then polish the soap with a damp washcloth. If I decide to bevel, it's the good old potato peeler. :)
