Brambleberry 36 bar wood mold. I want a silicone liner

Brambleberry offers silicone liners for their smaller molds, but not for the 36 bar mold. They don't have a recommendation for me of where to go to get one. I've searched a bit and it's not really a solution I can easily come up with. Has anyone done this before? I'd sure like to reduce the...

I read Tea Tree causes acceleration... How bad?

I make double-batches and pour into two molds. I pour into the first mold at light trace due to the extra time that's needed to get that all situation before I pour the second mold. Do you see this as a problem since it'll take some time before I can pour? I previously have had issue with...

    Accelerated/curdled again

This happened back when I tried to make a peppermint soap, then again with a patchouli blend. I asked on here and was told to add the essential oils to the liquid oils before the lye solution was added. I tried that this time and got the same results. A big clumpy mess. What causes this and...

Using molds (and unmolding) from hard plastic molds

I got these hard plastic molds and didn't even think about any sort of mold releasing agent. Now the little bars are stuck in the mold. Is there a way to fix this issue in the future? Pretty sure I'm stuck digging the bars out and ruining them.

    Soap history?

Just came across this article: http://www.soapmakingforum.com/History-Soap.html I've read elsewhere that it was Sopa (spell?) Hill is where the sacrifices took place. I've also heard it was human sacrifices. But that might just be from Fight Club. I also claim I use a soap making method that's...

Alternatives to stoves (as a heat source)

I'm planning on setting up a studio to make soap in instead of my kitchen. Does it really matter what type of heat source I use? Propane, natural gas, open flame, camping setup, etc. I want to use my solar cooker to melt palm/coconut while the sun is here too. Wish that were always an...

Reaction with different metals and CP soap?

Anyone know of a list of metals that react or don't react with soap? I know aluminum corrodes and stainless is safe, but what about titanium, rhodium, rose gold, gold, silver, tungsten....? Thanks

Brambleberry Soap mold (36 bar). Getting tired of these dividers... New options?

I've been using the Brambleberry mold for about 2 years now. It's worked fine, but I'm upping my production lately and getting tired of the time and effort it takes to deal with the dividers. The dividers are hard to pull out of the 'slap' and require pliers and a bit of strength. This bends...

Liquid oil weight ratio to solid oil weight?

I recall reading a while ago that your solid oils (coconut, palm, etc) should be about the same as your liquid oils. I'm within 80%. A little more liquid than solid.

Looking for advice on adjusting my current recipe

I asked a couple years back about tweaking the recipe and got some help. It's time for an adjustment with molds again so I'm curious as if there's anything that anyone suggests I change.... Here's the basic run down of my percentages (left out the decimals) Olive: 38% Coconut: 24% Palm...

FYI, cheap set of stock SS stock pots

I wanted a second pot to make two batches of soap at once (two different scents) and have been looking all over for a cheap pot. For the price they are used and new, I decided on this set. I've used them once now and wanted to get an idea of how they performed before I posted. It appears they...

What do you think of this silicone try as a mold for samples?

I've seen many silicone soap molds, but heard they will break down over time. I'm just wanting one of these to make sample pieces of soap to give out. http://www.wilton.com/store/site/product.cfm?id=AF414343-1E0B-C910-EAF4100780D53DC6

How imperative is distilled water? I have a high end water filter

We have a very very nice water filter system in the house and I'm thinking that's probably fine to use. It's got a softener, reverse osmosis filter, then another super fine filter for drinking water. I have always purchased distilled water to eliminate variables and possible problems. But I've...

How does my recipe look? Also wondering about numbers

This is the 3rd rendition to the soap I make, just wondering if there's room for improvement while I'm going to do some other changes. Olive: 35.7% Coconut: 24.8% Palm: 18.6% Hemp: 8.5% Castor: 7.8% Grapeseed: 4.7% I just put these numbers through the calculator again to post here...

    Bentonite clay in soap?

*guess my post didn't work due to the recent changes on here. I recently found soap from Japan that contained bentonite clay. I've used this clay before, but never considered adding it to my soap. Upon researching this a while, It seems it's typically used for a facial or shave soap...

Making two batches in one pot, how to pour that into molds?

Right now if I'm making two batches at once I just make them back to back. But I would like to make a double batch in one pot and pour that into two molds. What's the best way to go about this to make sure each mold gets the same quantity? A friend of mine suggested using a scale, but I'm not in...

    Soap Cost and organic ingredients

I've been making soap for a few years, but have not been using full organic ingredients due to cost and not feeling it completely necessary. I've been doing heavy research on this lately and have found it will only cost around .30 per bar to make them 'organic'. I feel I should be going this...

    Packaging/sealing MP soap?

I've read MP should be sealed, as where CP should not. Just curious as to what you guys are using to wrap these bars? I'm looking for a relatively low cost sealing/wrapping method. I'm considering buying a shrink-wrap setup maybe. I've also seen soap sleeves that are shrink wrap, but it's...

    Peppermint e-oil?

Why is this stuff so expensive? Seems to be quite an abundant plant right here in the states even. Looking for a recommendation on a reasonably priced oil. My main 3 sources are quite expensive. $146 for 30oz... yikes

    Shrink wrapper...?

Looking to wrap about 30 bars at a time. Any recommendations on a shrink-wrap setup? I looked on eBay, but there's so much on there. Thanks. BTW, has anyone ever seen a vegetable-based plastic shrink wrap?
