    I added .08 ppo fragrance....

Oh gosh i figured it out yesterday... Lol...my recipe calls for .8 oz ppo. The skin safe is 5.1% for the recipe. They end up being about the same amt. This had me crazy for a few days. Lol Thank you for the reply...wish i had posted and got your expertise before i worried with it for days. Lol

I added .08 fragrance oil...looked at the description for labeling, it says 5.1% skin safe. Thoughts? Ok I'm editing...i looked back at my recipe and notes. It says fragrance ratio, .8--- 69 g for a 49 ounce oil wt recipe.

    Beer and wine soap

Thanks so much for the replies!! I think I'll do a little small 10 oz recipe and see how it goes without the castor oil. I'm not a soap expert...so I appreciate any info you all provide. I've read about some soapmakers adding maple syrup...is this the same premise as beer/wine sugars? or is...

    Beer and wine soap

Hello everyone! I've made a few batches of HP beer soap, which I have included 5% castor oil in. I saw somewhere that a soapmaker left off the castor oil when using beer, because it makes great lather on its own. I'm getting ready to make more beer soap...and also wine soap, which I assume would...

    mica drizzle (tops)

That is what I am going for! I think I rushed to blot too soon. I did not realize the excess would absorb. I will try again!

    mica drizzle (tops)

Okay...I've tried a few times with no luck on mica drizzle to swirl on tops. What should I mix the mica powder with to make these drops for swirling? I used oil and it didn't work out well. I "thought" I had seen or read about people using alcohol, glycerin, water, etc. Will any of those...

    discoloring vanillin and camouflaging it

Well, I have several FO I want to use that have a medium to high vanillin content... Most likely I'll be using Hot process to make this soap. I'm thinking about doing some of the batter brown or black and put the FO in that part of the batter. I'd like to have thoughts on your experience if...

Hot process questions for the soap pros!

Interesting! I'm going to try different water ratios as well. Funny thing, I had a NIGHTMARE last night after reading about warping and shrinking using more fluid in the process....lol I dreamed that I went to check on my curing bars, I have only small batches of 1-2 pounds, but maybe8-10...

Hot process questions for the soap pros!

I feel like it was the tall skinny wood mold I used, it's 2.5" wide and 3.5" deep, so the top part that was exposed was cool and hard...that's why I thought it was ready, lol, SURPRISE!

Hot process questions for the soap pros!

Got it! lol Thanks a bunch Earlene! If you ever watch youtube...go to Valerie Mosher , she has several soap videos, and in her descriptions..she will list things she adds. I think the main one was to keep the plastic wrap over the crock, use full water amt (38%) and add .5 oz sodium lactate...

Hot process questions for the soap pros!

 Earlene! I can't figure out how that odd pic got on here, and I couldn't figure out how to take it off! I was hoping I was the only one who could see it. My son uses my laptop sometimes to do "gamer" stuff and saves pics, I really have NO CLUE what it is, or how I brought it up on the...

Hot process questions for the soap pros!

Hot process questions for the soap pros!

I am back to try a few things in HP soapmaking... Wondering if any of you experienced soapers can help me with a few questions. Pencil lines: Do you do a pencil line in HP as you would CP? I'm wondering if there is a higher chance of it breaking at the line since it will be more solid that...

help with layers in a sunflower mold

That's what I was thinking, but I don't want to get in the middle of something and then have some crazy stuff happen! lol I thought I'd do the singles so I don't have to worry about cutting them. I'm a rookie. no alcohol needed between the layers even after the first layer saponifies?

help with layers in a sunflower mold

I want to make a CP salt/spa bar and have a salt layer on bottom, but I want to do the reg recipe on top where the flower design is, (which means on bottom since I'll be pouring into the silicone sunflower molds.) Will I pour my reg batter in and then wait until it hardens somewhat.... add the...
