    Coconut free recipe

Hi all! I haven't been around for a while because I've been taking a bit of a break from soap making, but I'm back at it and would like to develop a coconut free recipe. I had done one (and took notes!) but I managed to lose my notebook (think my little one might have accidentally thrown it out)...

    Solid Perfume

I was watching some tutorials on youtube, one was just a melted scented candle put in a locket. *shudder* I've got coconut and sweet almond oils, as well as beeswax. Is it really as simple as choosing a carrier oil, adding beeswax and scenting it? (Obviously with something skin safe!) Anyone...

    A variation on pumpkin soap

I know you can use pumpkin puree in CP (and HP) and it's best to just sub part of the water and freeze it. I was wondering though if you might be able to use pumpkin pie filling? I did ask this somewhere else it was suggested that the spices in the pie filling might be an irritant, but wouldn't...

    Cupcakes!

I finally tried CP cupcakes, I made them scented with Wedding Cake on the bottom, and the top is unscented coloured with silver mica and they have glitter on top, but it's hard to see in the pic. I'm SOOOOO happy with them!

    Colouring body butters?

I keep seeing beautifully coloured body butters, how do people go about doing this?

    CP Cupcakes

I want to try my hand at CP cupcakes, but I need some help. First off, how do you figure out how much you need for your frosting? I know *really* it's personal preference (how much you want to pipe on) but is there a general rule of thumb for figuring this out? Also, how much time can I have...

    Sigh..a few questions

So today I decided to try my hand at castille and salt soap. I have a few questions about them. I had read that oo can take a long time to trace, so I was prepared for that, but I tried something new which I think is the thermal transfer method (using the heat of the lye to heat the oils?) So, I...

    Gardener's Soap

If I were to make a gardener's soap, what would be the best 'scrubby' to put in it? I have oatmeal, coffee, pumice, and eucalyptus and peppermint leaves. I have a lemongrass verbena fragrance that I was thinking about using, so I was kind of leaning towards the pumice (it's very fine) but was...

    Citrus Herb

I picked up a really nice citrus herb fragrance oil, and was mostly just planning on using it in candles, but it is body safe as well. I really like it and it's got a nice clean scent, I'm thinking now I'd like to use it in soap as well. I can't find any info (scent review board or the supplier...

    Pagan Meet & Greet..ideas?

It was just confirmed that I got a spot at the local pagan meet & greet, I had a table last year and did fairly well, had a great time and met a lot of great people. I personally am not a pagan, but know that they are great people :) I was wondering if anyone might have some ideas of products I...

    Chocolate soap

I was playing around with a no coconut recipe and decided to use cocoa butter instead, so when I made it I added some cocoa powder, soap turned out ok..maybe I'll like it better after it cures, I wasn't expecting too much of a chocolate scent which is good, because I didn't get any. It's kinda...

    Man Soap

Man Soap-Cut pics added! Scented with Double 0 Seven from Village Craft and Candle, coloured with BCN's black gel tone and the other part left 'natural' (no colour, just scent). I LOVE this fragrance, and it was beautiful to soap with, great for a beginner like me! I tried a hanger swirl and it...

Anyone know anything about Cloth Diapers..a laundry soap ?

I know it doesn't seem related to CP, but I have a friend who's son is allergic to coconut (all types) and she cloth diapers him, well she just discovered that he's now having an allergic reaction to the commercial soap she's been using. I suggested a castille soap to make laundry soap out of...

    Building a website

I'm in the process of putting together a website that people can purchase my products and learn about my stuff (why I do what I do, who I am, and such). I'm curious what you look for when you're buying online. I know not to have it too cluttered but I do have a lot of products, so I'm trying to...

    Lotion Bars

Hey everyone, I have a great recipe for lotion bars (from soapqueen) it's beeswax, sweet almond oil, shea butter and cocoa butter, but my customers find it too soft (it's really nice on the skin but tends to melt a bit in the tin) so I was wondering if I could take out the shea, and just use...

    Um...HELP!

I just made a batch (3lbs) of OMH, I used honey (1tbsp ppo) and milk powder (1 tbsp ppo) and dissolved the honey and milk powder in some of the water for the lye. I also added steric powder (1 tsp ppo) to help the bar be firmer as I was using a coconut/olive blend (30/70) with a 6% superfat. I...

    Goat milk/farmer

I have an odd question. I live in the city, but not too far outside of the city there's a goat farm (I know this because when we drive by I see the goats out in the field) Well, yesterday when we drove by I noticed they have some baby goats..which must mean there's milk, right? So since I was...

    Types of Wax

I use soy wax, that much I know I want to stick with. I was just checking out NDA and the prices, I'm looking to cut down my expenses a bit, and was wondering if anyone knows the difference between the different waxes. I typically use the EcoSoya pillar/votive blend (sometimes the container) but...

    Calculating volume of odd shapes

I know how to figure out the volume of a standard mold (loaf or slab) but I have some really cute little teddy bears and bundt cakes and have NO idea how to figure out the volume of them. Hubby said to fill them with water and weigh them..but I'm not sure that'll work for cp soap the same as it...
