    Help! Shaving soap mystery

You know why I'm freaking out about this a bit? I promised a senior executive in my company shaving soap. He's testing it for me so I can roll it out in my lineup. If that **** was lye heavy, I'd kill myself, lol.

    Help! Shaving soap mystery

If it was lye, I'd be zapped pretty badly, wouldn't I have? I just hope I didn't mess up the measurements and it's lye heavy.

    Help! Shaving soap mystery

I made soaping101's shaving soap today (followed the recipe to a T). A few hours after unmolding it, little salt-like grains formed on the surface. Tongue test was fine, so I don't think it's lye. At least I hope it's not. 15% oo 25% co 30% po 10% castor 10% tallow 5% shea 5% cocoa 1...

SLS and SDS in CP Soap - Lindy

Nobody is "bashing" anyone here. Can we please get off the drama train? I'm a member on a few boards, and there is such a thing as a mod overstepping; I see it all the time. Who cares! We're all only humans, in addition to the fact that it's sometimes difficult to make yourself understood on...

    Fiveleafclover (if you're lurking)

I see where you're coming from, flc. You're a good husband. :) I hope the scary start here won't dissuade you from posting many many more times. I personally enjoy your style. I may be the only one, but I understood your original post to the tee. It seemed to me that you've been around the...

    Fiveleafclover (if you're lurking)

No one here speaks for all of us, flc. You're smart. You know that's not the case. And now you can put that to bed. Could I ask you to reconsider adding SLS to your soap? There's enough poisonous shyte out there you can buy very cheaply on the dollar store that would make your wife happy. No...

    Slimy soap

I made a soap with just coconut milk and olive oil, and it's super slimy. I think it needs a longer (many more months) cure.

    Fiveleafclover (if you're lurking)

Lets not get into that discussion. There's stuff pro and con on the issue on the Internet. People choose to believe the articles that agree with them. If you've seen what SLS has done in my family, there's no question about its carcinogenic properties.

    Awful

Lol @ Nancy's scale. The pre-measured bags of lye look like they have vastly different amounts in them, no? Plus, who needs a mask when you can just hold and swoosh the jug "up here"???

Thanks a lot, Maisey, thanks a lot.

    Interesting Mold Idea

I've used baby oil before. It works okay. Lining works better.

    Fiveleafclover (if you're lurking)

Lol, I know... :). Now, if we can only make fiveleafclover return to satisfy my curiosity...

    Let's see those "masterpieces"

Wow, you're not afraid of colour, lol. I definitely prefer the plainer bars, but the first soap in the second row looks like there's a flower in it. Gorgeous!! Oh and: that's a good recipe too. You're going to love that soap.
