New to MP I used wilton gel but found it fades! so now am using LaBomb colarant to much success. anyone know why wilton fades? is it something I did wrong? wilton is certainly an economical solution and readily available, LaBomb I must order online - I won't complain though cuz it's good stuff. But if I need to correct how I've applied the Wilton gel to avoid fading I'd sure like to know. thank you.

I have never used the Wilton gels but I believe that they are food dyes. Food dyes are certainly safe for M&P soaps but they do fade badly. It is not anything that you are doing wrong. The dyes made for M&P soaps are often FD&C dyes but they are formulated to stick around in the soap much longer. Even so, properly colored M&P, if left in bright sunlight, will fade out eventually as well.
