Weigh scale

Ok i have just received my new scale and wanted to check its accuracy, more or less, just to ensure the scale is not defective.

So my question is, what household objects can u use to check the weight?

I was thinking mini eggs or something easy to remove.the wrapper. Or a bottle of water? I don't know if companies give the weight of the actual food minus the packaging or the weight of the whole. So far the scale seems off. I'm worried because it is brand new.

A US nickel weighs 5 grams. This is what I have always used.

Oops, sorry but I don't know where you live. Just google your country's mint and find out what weighs what.
