Substitutions?

My cousin who used to make soap gave me a lot of supplies and recipes, the only thing is that all of her recipes call for lard, are there any oils that I can use instead of lard?

Palm will work best, just make sure you run the new recipe through soapcalc.

If you're not opposed to animal fats, lard is actually really awesome in soap. Nicer than palm imho.

Another vote for lard, if you do not mind animal fats. And depending on how long ago this cousin used to soap, some supplies may become outdated. I quit for 10 years but had saved my e.o.s and f.o.s. The only one that was still good after that time was from Lebermuth. Oxides were still good, though.
