I know people used sodium lactate to help harden their soaps. I have some on hands and was wondering when do you add the sodium lactate? Do you add at with the oils or with the lye water?

Thanks!

I add it to my clay and silk before I add the liquid and lye. Mixing all that really well breaks up any clumps in the clay. Are there advantages to adding it to the cooled lye mixture? For HP I add a bit more after the cook to help smooth it out for going into the mold.

I've only used it once so far and added it to my lye/water mixture after it cooled down. Worked out fine that way - no fuss.

Thanks everyone! Just wasn't really sure when to add. I've done both adding to the cooled lye water and to my oils.
