I had a bacth of soap that got ash- I trimmed the ash away but it looks like there might still be a trace of ash left- is it safe to use this way?
Thanks!

You must be refering to lye - no, it shouldn't be lye. Misbehaving lye comes out as little pockets, or a layer that didn't incorporate into the soap and that is very obvious. What you are talking about is whitish stuff on top of the soap - it must be ash. Just a cosmetic problem - that's all. The little bit that's left is not harmful.

I'm 99% sure!! :D

I am pretty sure it is ash- I viewed some pics on this board of soap with ash and it looked the same as mine- and it didn't zap- I must admit I am not so crazy about doing the zap test.
I used a sliver of it today and no burn or other reactions from it.

I rebatched some soaps last week and some of the soaps show a layer of lye. Can I rebatch these again?
