Question about stick blenders and air

I made soap for the first time in two years last sunday. I was trying to recreate this:

But instead got something more like the white part of this:

I forgot until I was in the midst of making the soap that my SB was shot and introduces quite a bit of air. Would that account for the difference? The recipe was exactly the same, even including roughly the time of year. It is also extremely soft and bent when I cut it yesterday! But it is mostly OO so.....
Definitely getting a new soaping SB soon!!
 
What oils did you use?
Olive, CO, and sweet almond. No additives or fragrance. It had the standard soap calc 38% water thing. As I said I was trying to recreate the first soap, which I made before I knew to use higher lye %.
