Quick question! ;) I made some lavender/peppermint EO soap. The soap that I gelled turned a purple/yellow brownish color on the inside. The soap that I did not gel kept the normal whiteish/purple color on the inside. The additives I used were purple colorant (liquid), Kaollin clay, and 1 ouce of ground lavender buds. Did the Peppermint EO cause the soap to change color on the inside during the gel phase? I think that I like the coloring of the non-gelled better...even though I prefer to gel my soaps. Thank you!

I say it was the colorant. I have never had a problem with peppermint EO

I believe ground lavender can turn soaps brown. So, that may have been the culprit instead of the colorant. I know that lavender buds turn brown in soaps, so it would make sense to me that the ground lavender would turn brown as well, I hope someone will correct me if I am wrong about this :)
