premixing lye question

I premixed my lye last night using 50/50 method, stired until it was clear, and left over night to cool down before putting in my container. This morning there was a crust on top of my lye. What is this?

Did you perhaps mix it in a container that previously contained any oils, or else had been washed out with soap that left a slight residue? Such things can cause that to happen, I've noticed.
