Hi everyone,

I came across a recipe for a bath bomb that lists vanilla and butter extracts as ingredients (instead of fragrance oils).

So as the subject of the thread says, is butter extract safe? I didn't even know what that was and had to Google.

The ingredients are: Water, Propylene Glycol, Artificial Flavor, Tartrazine/FD&C Yellow No. 5, Sunset Yellow Fcf/FD&C Yellow No. 6.

I guess the fact that it is used for baking kind of makes me wonder if it is safe for the skin but then again aren't corn starch and coconut oil used for that too? :p

Thanks,

HH.

P.S.: I will go for vanilla oil instead of extract though.

Where would you buy butter extract? I'm assuming that's added for fragrance and maybe you could leave it out? TBH I'd try another recipe.

What do you mean by vanilla oil? do you mean vanilla FO?

Thanks, dixiedragon and cmzaha.

I am looking to make a bath bomb that smells like a cake. I went to the "oil" shop today and they had vanilla (FO) as I wanted but couldn't think of what else would make it smell like a cake...any ideas?

Otherwise, I will just use the vanilla one.
