I have seen the term "DOS" and I know it is a bad thing! but what exactly is DOS?

DOS stands for Dreaded Orange Spots which is a term used to describe soap that has gone rancid. It will appear in your soap literally as orange spots. It usually stems from using rancid oils and/or improper storage (too humid).

Should you ever discover DOS in any of your soaps be sure to discard them. They're no longer viable or safe to use IMO.

Some articles I've read have said that DOS is unsightly but still ok to use. I guess it would depend on how bad it is in your own opinion. I haven't had DOS on any of my own soap so I can't say if I've used it and had ok results.

I have read that you should wash any areas of shelving that the DOS soap touched..
