That's another benefit. I like using the gram weight if I'm working with small amounts and I always use the gram weight for lye no matter the size of the batch.

SoapCalc has a tutorial on how to use it. http://soapcalc.net/info/helptext.asp There are also videos on youtube which show how to use it.

Have to admit the instructions didn't help at all. They assume you know how to use it before using it. Once I understood about using percentages, it made perfect sense. It's absolutely the only way to make a proprietary recipe. Thanks, SMF!

Okay, sorry about that. I have to admit I didn't read the instructions. I learned SC just by doing it. I found it to be intuitive but people have different learning styles. There are also instructions on youtube. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QaBl31dLaE"][/ame]

I've used crisco for a few soaps...........its great. Doesn't break me out. Creamy lather. If you want a lot of bubbles...just add a bit of castor. Here's an ideal...make a test batch and see if you like it. A few soaps that these sites say don't work........work wonders. Ils like folks who's go to is shea or cocoa butter....get so set in that, they may reject mango. When I learned to soap....it was to avoid all the stuff on my extensive allergy list....with folks saying "oh don't use that" along the way. Then, "this soap is wonderful...what did you use?" And then act shocked. Well....its been my experience that stuff on paper is nice and all...but how does it feel on your own skiin. The best judge you have of how a soap feels...your own skin.

i agree, the best judge is what we feel on our skin.
