I have read on the Kathy Miller site that she uses Crayola crayons to color soap! Whats that all about? Does it work? How come?

The crayons are wax with the same kind of coloring that is used in candles. The wax does not hurt the soap and the color imparts into the soap.

I do that all the time with the biodiesel glycerin soap, I first lighten the soap with titanium dioxide and add crayons till I get a color I like.

Works great!

crayons are absolutely NOT approved colorants for soaps. you cannot legally sell soap colored that way.

do it the right way, with approved colorants. there are several options available.

It works - I've done it a few times - but like carebear said, I would never sell soap coloured with crayons.

Ditto what the gals said. It does work & I do not doubt it is safe, since kids eat them on a regular basis, but is not FDA approved.
