I attempted a charcoal bar, but after three days of curing these bars are still not hard enough to pull out of their molds. They're kind of tacky and while I can pick them up and hold them, if I apply any pressure they would mush.

Is my batch dead?

As EG said, we need the full recipe as there could be several issues:

Full water amount used
High amount of castor oil used
Higher amount of unsaturated (soft oils) vs. saturated oils (hard)

My GM soaps I have been making since I am using floral fragrances and I want more time I have been using full liquid (if not extra) so I have a little bit more time to work and they have been a week to two weeks old and are still a little tacky. The ones that I did a discount with though are rock hard.

too high of a superfat, inactive lye, high water - and not gelling can be one! I had a batch that didn't gel and was 5 days in the mold before I could take it out safely, and even then it was soft.
