Can I use both mica's and pigment with CP Just want another opinion
The really question is can I purchase basic colors and mix them using a color wheel to achieve the colors I desire. For example I have purchase a brick red but its to brownish I would like a straight red and combine it with a true blue and achieve a standard green. If that is the formula If anyone knows where i can buy true colors please let me know the company

Red and blue make purple - don't they?

Probably so I can figure that out using a color wheel Do you know where I can purchase true colors like red, blue, orange green instaed of Brck red, crystal blue, olive green???

Yes, blue and red make purple.

Blue and yellow make green.

Yellow and red make orange.

Lots of online B&B vendors sell true colorants. Hopefully more people will chime in with what they use, but these are the basic ones I use:

For a true blue, I use ultramarine blue. http://www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com/Pr ... lue+Powder

For a true green, I use ultramarine green http://www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com/Pr ... er+Pigment

For a true purple I use ultramarine violet http://www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com/Pr ... let+Powder

For yellow, I use yellow iron oxide: http://www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com/Pr ... ent+Powder or gold mica http://www.oregontrailsoaps.com/product ... 11&scat=37

For teal I use green chromium hydroxide: http://www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com/Pr ... ent+Powder

For red I use Colorana Bordeaux http://www.tkbtrading.com/item.php?item ... gory_id=35 and Tomato Red http://www.tkbtrading.com/item.php?item_id=199

For black I use activated charcoal http://www.amazon.com/Natures-Way-Activ ... B0006LCQ4Q

For white I use titanium dioxide http://www.oregontrailsoaps.com/product ... 11&scat=35

For orange, I use tomato paste from a tube http://www.amorebrand.com/products/tomato-paste

Oh ya...I love Colorana Bordeaux. It's the best red you'll probably get. It's on the fuscia side. Red Iron Oxide gives a great Christmas red, but unfortunately it also makes bloody-colored lather and stains bath linens. I have Queen Katherine mica but have not tried it yet. It may be a stronger red than Colorana Bordeaux.

I use all those listed by Irish Lass, plus Copper Penny for a dusky orange, Bolera for a bright orange, and Coral Reef Blue for a really nice teal, all micas. I really have a good time with the soap stable micas from TKB. Breath of Spring is a lovely pastel green. When I want to mute something or need a brown, I use brown iron oxide.

I just checked TKB and it appears Queen Katherine is no longer on their inventory.

Oregon Trails has some nice pigments. I've been happy with them.
