Hi...this is probably a very silly question.......but is it free to have a blog...or do you pay a fee per month like you do to host a website?

You can get a free website from blogger.com or wordpress.com. You will have a webaddress that looks something like http://myblogname.blogspot.com. I like WordPress self-installations for my blogs, because I use them as a full website. If you don't need that much, you can probably go with blogger, and then later pay the fee to get your own URL if you so desire.

yep. my main domain is my hairdressing site, it promotes me as a brand. I would say a good 50% of my clients are from the website or facebook.
