Seriously? Well, that's a creative idea. Thanks, madpiano.

    Plum Kernel Oil

Thanks, Sudsy. I mean Plum Kernel Oil. Kinda like Apricot Kernel Oil or Cherry Kernel Oil. It smells fab (amaretto-y) and soaks in beautifully. I use it in a blend for a gentle skin oil. Seems to be that once I find a cool oil, I have a hard time keeping it sourced. Dern stuff doesn't...

    Plum Kernel Oil

So I usually get mine at Mountain Rose, but they're out of stock. I searched through all the online bulk oil places I could think of and no one seems to carry it . . . Anyone have a source? TIA

Superfat on shampoo bar from those who use them

ministeph - your experience is typical of a shampoo bar. It's worse for some folks than others. A handmade bar of soap is alkaline. Syndets are acidic. Hair likes acidic cuz it keeps it feeling smooth. Alkaline makes all the hair fibers stand on end and not be smooth. Lots of folks use a...

    Who is Beehive Soap?

I never noticed it either! Doesn't look like an ad to me.

Superfat on shampoo bar from those who use them

Hey Micro, I actually posted it there, first and then thought maybe it should go here :) I'll give it a run here and then post over there. I know that shampoo bars are not the way that most folks can go, but I sure have a lot of folks asking me to make them! I use my body bars in my hair on...

Superfat on shampoo bar from those who use them

I'm not looking for anyone's secret recipes, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on the amount of superfat that a shampoo bar should have. *From people who like and use them.* I've read books/blogs but as I've looked around at those who are making them, I see the superfat for these bars is...

    Egg yolk soap

I don't think it matters if you gel. What was your superfat?

    Mostly butter soap?

carebear, you ain't lying! I did your recommended bar and used about a 40% lye concentration and basically room temp. It heated up like crazy and humped up in the mold (only 1 lb batch) but it's like it didn't *really* gel . . . it was weird. Anyway, holy heck! I gotta shovel my way into...

    Overnight Prints

Don't know if any of ya'll use them, but they are experiencing some major production delays right now. I've got stuff I ordered nearly a month ago and they're still not even printed. This is only my second experience with them. The first one was fine.

what do you carry samples in?

Aw, C'mon. Think BIG! Google it. I found a couple places that sell them in smaller lots.

Love your look! I, personally, never buy anything if I don't see an ingredient list. Maybe I'm alone in this. Your stuff looks great and I'm sure it is wonderful! Best of luck.

    droplets on top of soap..

Waiting is always a good idea. It may be just fine after it cures.

    Egg yolk soap

I had read everyone was getting cooked egg white bits in their soap with whole eggs or eggs where the chalaza hadn't been removed from the yolk. So none of that happened to you? Any white bits in the soap??

    High Superfat Coconut Oil Soap

Nope, not humid here. I had it on an open wooden shelf (each piece spaced apart) in a dark, dry pantry for months and then tossed it into a shoebox along with some others that are even older. Older bars look fine. I made another high coc oil batch last week (before I saw my DOS coc bar)...

    High Superfat Coconut Oil Soap

So, last Feb I made a 95% Coc Oil, 5% Castor, 20% superfat bar. Used most of them for different purposes and put several back to keep. I just dug them out of the "keep a scrap from every batch" box and it is one huge DOS. Sitting in there with bunches of older soap that has no DOS, btw...
