Oil heavy, need to rebatch with lye

sadly, I was looking at the wrong recipe when weighing out my lye, I am about 6oz short. It's obviously VERY soft. My thought is to mush it up in the crock and add 50/50 lye/water. Any advice is greatly appreciated! I'm actually surprised that I was able to cut it at all! I guess it's about...

    Fun with mp!

i decided I wanted to play and try mp, so I went to Michaels with a coupon and picked some up. It was definitely soothing to play and not be rushed, but is this stuff even soap?? Lol!

they are the small containers I got from Walmart, Ive not used the heating pad before. How long do you think? They are 3/4 full. I know there are a lot of variables, but is there a 'ballpark 'on how long gel takes in somehing this size (if it does at all!).

I get to try my first cured soap tonight!

ive been a VERY good girl!! As resistant as I was, at first, I took heed and waited! Yes, I've kept little 'scrids ' and pieces by the sink, but Ill actually be taking a bar to the shower tonight! My first batches are almost 8 weeks old. I've waited until I was at the end of my purchased...

    I'm getting frustrated with EOs

thus far, I have used (all from BA) eucalyptus (cool cp), lemongrass (cool cp), and the scent is just NOT there! Cedarwood is faily ok, lavender is pretty weak. Before I sink more $$$, are there any, In Your experience, that do better?

My recipe shows it's a soft bar

i made my natural colorants bars again, but this time cp instead of hp. I really should have used the same recipe so that I could compare them, but... The recipe shows a soft bar. I know that it's supposed to be just a guide, but I feel like I used enough hard oils, I also added SL. I should...

    Newbies random soaping questions

I hate the thought of staring a new thread every time I have a random question. I hope it's ok to just keep a thread going for them. First question In cp, for thinnest batter, Is it better to get to emulsification and then pour and get to trace in the individual color containers? I'm wanting...

    Benefits/drawbacks to mold types?

When I first decided to give soaping a try, I bought a 3 and a 5 lb wooden loaf mold from Bulk apothecary, with a removable side and wing nuts. I don't seem to see wooden molds used very often, is there a reason that many seem to prefer silicone? I guess the obvious benefit would be not having...

I just registered at WSP. I notice that their prices are a little cheaper for micas, and free shipping at $25. Are they as good as the micas at Nurture soap, in your opinion?
