Breastfeeding and fragrance oil use in soap

Has anyone been breastfeeding and made soap with fragrance oils? If so what kind of protection did you use. A regular face mask or a repertory? Or did you just pump and dump? If you did how many hours later did you do the pump and dump. Thanks.

How to deal with "omg you made this! You should totally sell this" a nube experience

This is my spin off from the Thread "To reply or not to reply? That is the question". I am a newbie. I have been interested and casually researching soap making for over a year before I decided to join this forum and actually make my first batch of CP soap. Have now been a member for a few...

Where to find Shea and Cocoa butter locally

I'm in Winnipeg, Manitoba (Canada) and I don't have enough to make an online order worth while to pay shipping. The only supplier in my area (that I know of) is selling Shea and Cocoa butter for a steep price. I was wondering, would African stores (grocery and other) carry refined and natural...

    new bars # 6, 7, 8

This is the bars I made after the lye incident and the ones that I though overheated... Today they look good actually. Started hardening up, no more oily bits. I can see where the oil was though. #7 (OMH) & #8 (Ginny Poo bar) are remakes of ones that I have already made. I had to trip a...

    Lye and possible overheating adventure!

I think this is batch #6 which is technically 2 different soaps in one mold. Had my recipe ready, oils ready, new wooden mold I made was all freezer papered up and ready to go... then it all went wrong... *insert dramatic music* I threw out my old water/lye container from the last batch and...

I tried making massage bars with chocolate...

And they turned out like this! They look like shell chocolates! I hope inside they are as wonderful as they look on the outside. The further two had the cocolate clump up in tiny pieces and I don't like that. The other 4 look great though. Used my moms old muffin tin after spending hours...

    Woodworking!

This is directly related to soap making but I do take part in many crafts and woodworking is one of them. Me and my dad tackled my drawing for a soap mold. I needed his help because him and my DH have made the shop a disaster zone, which I am totally unable to find any tools in. Also, my DH is...

    green colorant for CP

I want to make a peppermint chocolate mocha soap. I have nettle leaf but I know in my HP batch it left green specks (from the leaf itself) which I added at after cook. When I infused the nettle leaf in olive oil and mixed in lye water it looked beige not green. Is there a way to get a green...

Oatmeal, Milk and Honey & Lemongrass Green Tea FO's

These were both bought from Candora Soap. I'm not crazy about the OMH but I absolutely LOVE the Lemongrass Green Tea, I want to make everything using this! Its just one day but I will update if they fade a lot. I HP's the soap and added the FO's after I was done cooking but may have added it...

    Soap molds

Ok what is the difference between soap molds? Wood, silicone, pvc pipe, random objects found around the house? I am thinking about making a wooden mold from plywood but then my dad asked why can't you just make a mold out of galvanized metal? So I thought I would ask and see what you guys think?

    Mink oil

What would mink oil be used for in making soaps? I know my hubby has a lot of the jars that they give him with purchase of his work boots. Unfortunately they are unlabeled except for "MINK OIL" on the lid, so I am unsure if they are purely mink oil or a mix. Anyone know anything about this...

    First and Second CP bars

My first bar is a 100% coconut oil laundry bar. The mold I used was a plastic puff pastry box from Walmart. I cut the bars about 20 hours after molding them which was too late for the coconut bars (I found out later) so they were really hard to cut then they broke apart once I cut about 3/4 way...

    Lye and kitchen tools

I was wondering if u use a pot from the kitchen (stainless steal) for making soap can u use it for regular kitchen use again, for making food? I have read that u are not supposed to use the pots for food once u have used it for soap making. But I don't understand what the harm is. Does the...

    My first soap!

So I made a CP coconut oil soap for laundry. It took about 40 mins with a hand blender to trace! When I cut the soap it was super hard and brokeapart (good thing I wasn't trying to make pretty bars). I wanted to zap test it the next day to see what the zap would be like, and there was nothing...

    Weigh scale

Ok i have just received my new scale and wanted to check its accuracy, more or less, just to ensure the scale is not defective. So my question is, what household objects can u use to check the weight? I was thinking mini eggs or something easy to remove.the wrapper. Or a bottle of water? I...
