Wrapping several-days-old soaps

So, I want to give my soaps to a friend who is leaving in a week.

I just cut the soap today.

Would it be safe to wrap them in baking/kraft paper and then give them away?

Yes, but with the understanding that it is best for him/her to let the soap sit for four to six weeks before using it.

It will shrink. So, if you are tightly wrapping or using a "cigar band" it will be loose in a week or two. If you mean you are putting it in a box and wrapping like a gift, then that's not an issue.
