Made a batch of soap with sweet orange essential oil, put about 5 oz. into a 8 pound batch and i find the smell is not strong enough. It's been curing for 2 weeks does anyone know if i should of put more essential oil?
I use orange oil usually in conjunction with other oils, but if it were straight orange, I'd have used about 3 ounces for your 8 lbs of oils. I use 10-fold orange oil. The soap bar would have a definite orange color and the orange scent would be obvious.
If you anchor your orange (or lemon or lime) scent with another citrus EO that has more staying power (litsea cubeba, lemongrass, petitgrain, etc), the scent will be stronger and will last longer. I've had good luck with lemongrass. I also use 5x or 10x fold orange oil. Good luck with your soap!
