Candles not burning properly

I've been struggling with my candles. I'm using soy/coconut container wax, my container is 3.5 oz and the diameter is 2.5 inches. If I use one wick I don't get a complete pool and if I use 2 wicks it burns too hot and too quickly. I'm using a pre tabbed wick used for candles with a diameter of 2" to 2.75". I'm using 10% FO. Any ideas what I could be doing wrong?
