I want to kind of mimic Lush with a body polish. I wrote down some of the ingrediants but want to keep it simple. I will list the ingrediants then would love feedback of what i should/shouldn't add!

cocoa butter
rose water
liquid glycerin
coconut oil
fragrance oil
sweet almond oil

Thanks!

Well one thing you will definitely need is a preservative. You may want to look into a few online to see which would work best for your application. Also you may need an emulsifier like polysorbate, BTMS or e-wax. You could probably get both from the same source.

First off oils and water don't mix without an emulsifier and when you do mix them together you open the mixture up to bacterial and fungal growth. If you don't want to use a preservative you will need to refrigerate it and use it up in a week or two tops.

Here's a couple links so you can read up on some of these ingredients. You certainly don't have to buy from them. There are plenty of B&B craft suppliers that carry these essential ingredients for lotions, body butters, and scrubs.

I personally use Germall Plus but I've also heard good things about Optiphen from other lotion crafters.

Also if you find that your recipe is a little too greasy adding a little cornstarch will silken it up and make it fell more absorbent.
