    how do I wax warmers

How do I make wax warmers? You can buy a jar full of this soft waxy type stuff that you place on a heat pad, and once melted an aroma is given off. I would love to make some for my Mam, but have no idea where to start, can you help?

    Don't know if you remember....

but way back when I said a thank you to all of for being so encouraging to everybody, and how that helped me while I was in training for my first half marathon? Well, yesterday I did it, I finished in 2hrs23mins, a speed demon I am not, but I am so chuffed with myself, and I am still on a high...

    sub for lard

I have recently been a convert to Lard, it makes such a fabulous lather, but I have a problem, I have quite a few veggie friends, and off course I can't give these soaps to them. Is there another oil subsitute that I can use that isn't Palm that has similar properties

    What I've been doing recently

Thought I would show what I have been doing recently in the world that is making soaps! This one is Christmas Swirls with Yuletide fragrance from Sensory Perfection, lovely smell, but I am not 100% happy with the way the colours have gone scale like, a few of my soaps have done this when using...

    mixing / adding mica

Sorry if this is a repeat post, I can't find it on the search. I would like to know how to mix mica's in CP and HP. I want to do swirls, I have tried using Gracefruits colours which I think are similar to labcolours, but I am going through them a rate of knots! I thought that I might try micas...

    First try at embeds

This is my latest effort, my DH thinks it's great but I'm disapointed, I wanted the balls to be round but trying to mould them they were either too soft or too hard! It has a black cardamom, scent which is a spicy vanilla, a bit too sweet for me.

I would like to say a big thank you to everyone one of you who has posted positve engouragement in the past. I am currently training to run a half marathon, later this summer, and everytime I hit a hard patch, mantally or phsically, I somehow always end up thinking of all the positive thought...

What names are best? following on from best scent!

Following on from the post about what scents sell best in there a difference between standard names as in straight "Lavender", "Citrus" or more creative names such as "Tranquil", "Blue Skies"? Apologies if I have used anybody soap names here! I love more creative names, but my imagination sucks!

    birthday soap

Well I thought I would put a pic up of my rosemary and tea tree soap. I don't know if I like the mould too much as there was a lot of bubbles on the surfaces of my soap :( , but I have to admit it does smell lovely. I added the EO to my oil before the lye, just to try. I was curious as there was...

    Baby soap

I have a little question, my sister is expecting and due in Dec, I would like to make a baby soap for her. It is going to be unscented 100% OO, what superfat should I use, I normally use 5%, but I feel a higher superfat might be more suitable, what are your opinions?

    I'm excited!

A box of soaping supplies arrived at 7.30 this morning, colours, scents and some oils, I can't wait to use them, BUT I have to wait until my birthday (Sat) for my new silicone loaf moulds, I am getting seriously agitated! I am going to try one with ground rosemary first, it currently...

    calendula and cocoa swirl

I thought you might like to see my more successful effort at swirling after my cow like jobbie the last time! I used different oils this time, but I used the same F/O but it smells slightly different, maybe it will mellow given time!

    devilish soap

I was just think about how there has been lots of talk about using tea as your liquid, my little grey cells were working and I came up with a devilsh plan for a soap for somebody I didn't like to much! I have in my cupboard a box of chilli herbal tea, I bet that would make some rather...

    lemon zinger marble

Well this was my first attempt at HP in a slow cooker, I thought I would try marbling too, as well as the lemon zinger tea. As you can see the paler colour is the result of the lemon zinger, not the lovely pink I had envisioned! It has a bergamot and lemongrass EO blend which is holding up...

HP or CPOP, which one is going to be ready quicker?

I know I am asking what probably is on the site any way, what is best to use a soap straight away? Is it, Hp or can I use CPOP, I would rather use the latter as it is a present, it's shaving soap, so it will be poured into ramekins, so I am not sure about the surface of HP, but if CPOP could be...

    seperation rebatch!

Thought that you might like to see what a day I had the other day! I thought that I would try and do a HP soap, great stuff I thought. As I was about to pour the lye in to the milk, my mother turned up, giving me the fright of my life ( she isn't that scary she just surprised me!), so all of...

can you help? - gooky brain like!

I have made my castille (with the water discounting info- thanks guys!) but there is this common thing I have on all my soaps, this brain like texture on the top. I stick blend and there is no zap. This one is 100% OO. :? This is how it looked cut and trimmed a few minutes later...

    discounting water

I make an olive oil soap for my Dad, and it takes a while to trace with the stick blender and harden, I use soap calc and water of 38%, having read here about water discounting what amount should I discount by, just to get it to trace and harden that little bit quicker? I have never done...
