Is there a rule of thumb for the amount of water to add to a soap recipe?
Is it in reference to the amount of oil(s) being used in batch?
Or is it the types of oils?
Amount of both lye and oils being added?

for me it's the lye solution concentration I worry about. Water as a percent of oils is irrelevant to me.

for beginners I recommend a 27-28% lye solution, increasing with experience.
