I live in the southeast of England where the water is really hard. We live near chalky hills. Should I not use tap water, and buy distilled water? Where can I buy it in England?

What about rainwater? Would local rainwater be hard if the tap water is? It's raining this weekend, so I could try and catch some!

I would use rain water over hard tap water. Hard water will more likely leave soda ash on your soap. Not sure what else it would or would not do if anything. I sometimes use filtered water myself but I mostly soap with coconut milk.

I use deionised water.I know others do too. It's easy to get here, got mine at asda. Its in the car care section as its used for topping up car batteries. If you can't get it at the supermarket, try Halfords.

Hi,

I live in South East England too and I use deionised water (car battery) from Halfords. It is really cheap and saves a lot on shipping charges.
