So ... substituting vinegar for water (with the proper increase of lye) creates sodium acetate, which helps to harden the soap. Adding yogurt creates sodium lactate, which also hardens the soap (this I've done).

I prefer to OHP my soaps, and the yogurt/sodium lactate not only adds to the hardness of the finished soap, but also helps keep the hot/gelled soap fluid enough to mold nicely. My question is ... does anyone know (or have experience) if the vinegar/sodium acetate also helps with the fluidity of the soap before it hardens?

I do not find that the vinegar makes any difference with fluid aspect in hp anymore than other liquids, you are not making additional sodium lactate as you know. I do find sodium lactate, yogurt, sugar water will help the fluid aspect. Granted I do not make a lot of hp soap, so take what I say as just my opinion
