Larger batches do act differently. I find my 12 lb slab get to gelling much more quickly than my 7lb loaf.

I gel all my soaps and I really want the colors to pop. I'm going to use all neon colors. When I use lard I noticed that any color I use really stands out. Lard produces a nice white/off white color without having to use TD or white mica.
