I have had success in making soap that cleaned really well but it wasn't until I trusted myself and the recipe, then decided it was failure or success and so I stuck to my plan and followed through with it. I realized it was me who was holding things back. It will happen. Just find a recipe that gives you about 15 minutes or more of play time and you will get what you want.
I've found that recipe (recently) and that's when I *started* to get the looks i wanted, but i'm still running into things like weird white spots(not lye, but stearic, ash or undissolved TD), discoloration from FOs, and minor things like that.

But I can say I've learned from each batch and each batch was better than the last.
and then I tried a new recipe AND technique and it didn't work out. I need to get more comfortable with my slow moving recipe.
