Can anyone comment on their experience with using Sodium Lactate in cold process soap? Does it help harden up bars that might be softer due to softer oils and super-fatting?

Will it cause too fast a trace if I want to do color swirling? I need to hear about how this product works from those who have experience with it.

Thanks much.

I use sodium lactate @ 1/2 to 1tsp ppo added to my lye water. Doesn't affect trace or accelerates that I know of...hasn't happened to me. If I have fast trace or acceleration it's normally the FO or TD that's the cause. I usually have plenty of time to work....sometimes having to wait for the batter to thicken before I can work my tops....if I haven't used anything else that's usually the culprit. My soap is usually ready to unmold & cut 12 hours later. At 3 weeks they're rock hard. I make alot of soap & adding sodium lactate has helped to make my process faster & easier.
