Soda ash?

This is some watermelon soap on a rope that I did and this morning it had what I think is ash but were little ball shaped and brushed right off. Any thoughts?

I think you are probably right, especially since the soap is in individual cavity molds. You can just wipe off the ask with a damp cloth or steam it off.
