After pouring the lye into the water yesterday and checking the temperature, I noticed that the lye water was not really hot. It measured about 67 degrees right after pouring. We're in very Northwestern Washington State, so it hasn't warmed up here yet.

Since I wasn't about to waste my lovely mixture of oils, I poured and mixed, and got trace in a reasonable amount of time.

I don't know why the lye water didn't heat up, but since there was trace, I'm hoping to get soap. We'll just have to see.

Very interesting. Somebody else was recently having problems with their lye not heating up, but hers wasn't even dissolving (Roebic brand lye). It sounds like yours at least dissolved properly, though. Let us know how things turn out!
