I did participate in the July Marble challenge with Soap Challenge Club. The most challenging part of it was finding an inspiration picture that looked like true geological marble, and then sticking closely to that. Turned out that the first one I chose was not considered geological marble by the geologists who were helping with that challenge, and I was asked to change my entry or move it to the non-competitive category. However, at the time of voting, I saw that someone else entered a soap based on that same marble; apparently the challenge leaders didn't catch it.

I'm not upset about that in the least (it's soap, and I wasn't in the running for any prizes, lol). But I do want to point out that determining what is true marble, and then policing all the entries to make sure they qualify, will add a significant amount of extra work for @earlene. She's in charge of the challenge, so if she's up for that, great. I would have no problem with whatever way she decides to go - but it probably should be clarified which way that is.
@AliOop I was part of that discussion and it was exhausting. I've found the rules in that challenge club to be... odd. (I'm usually asking a bunch of questions b/c I find them to be unclear as written but nitpicky in assessment).
I'm so glad we don't have to worry about that here.

This will be my first SMF challenge!
I'm definitely not going to win but there feels less pressure here somehow. I'm pretty excited about my concept though. It won't be anything fancy but I think it will be a good "concept" soap.

I think you need to copy the list above and make a reply adding your name to it, and the next number. :)

@Louise Taylor I believe you should be entry #16, and would be copy-and-pasting post #22

I made this a few months ago and my hubby said it looks like marble. I had a less than successful batch of salt bars, chopped them up and used the pieces as confetti. I'm really looking forward to trying some of the other techniques.

The banner at the top of the forum still says August challenge. Should it be September’s challenge? This is only the second one that I have entered, but i remember using the banner last month to find the thread quickly.

Today I unmolded my marble loaf.
I used a small amount of TD batter to swirl with my batter sections, and also oil-dispersed Mica to swirl with the batter and between batter to get veining. The gold is MM King Tut, red is MM Spicy Tomato and NS Trial by Fire, gray is MM Satin Pillowcase.
It was a little tacky, and the unabsorbed oil made it slippery, but I cut a couple bars.
I decided to leave the loaf top-down so the bottom and sides could become easier to handle. 1st Pic of top of the loaf, and 2nd pic the upside down loaf, a few cut bars, and some odds and ends.

Yes, but I am assuming the holiday weekend has delayed the usual update for the banner.
