I'm not sure how it happened either! I was a bit disappointed when I unmolded it, thinking that the cocoa-colored parts would have all lightened to the same amount that the outside had. I wonder if it's a cocoa thing, or if it varies depending on the pH of the cocoa? (Since this is natural which is acidic, where as dutch is alkaline...)

Yikes! I've never used cocoa so I wouldn't know, but what a shame if it loses its pretty swirls. Keep us updated! I'd really like to know if the soap changes or loses colour along the way. I'm crossing my fingers for you that it doesn't!
 
I didn't have anything fancy nearby when I made those soaps. The only colorants there were the TD and cocoa powder I used. They've been stored on a cooling rack on top of a plain cardboard box. And it's only the side that was towards the air while it was in the mold that got them, and only the one loaf.
