I just sent out a bunch of USPS priority mail boxes size small that comfortably fit 3 bars of soap, but definitely would not hold 4, bummer.

Anyway, I am pretty new to shipping things: I mostly sell my soaps in person. Before I get my website up and running, I want to have a solid shipping method.

It is $8.45 for the small boxes to send Priority Mail, and they will give you boxes free...delivered to your house. And they will just pick it up for free from you mailbox or front step. I sent my sister a few soaps a couple of months ago via UPS, I don't remember how much it was, but it was significantly higher.

And what would be a cheap option for a single bar?

Go through Pirate Ship. It’s USPS and the rates are better. The small flat rate boxes are $7.90. I often use the flat rate padded envelopes too and those are $8. I can get up to 9 soaps in one. I slide cardboard on either side of the soaps to protect them. Single bars definitely use first class.
