Mixing different lye brands

I recently bought some food grade lye from essential depot but I have been using lye from the hardware store for the last several months. Both are sodium hydroxide, just different brands. I have a few ounces of the hardware store lye left and I was wondering if it will be a problem to use the rest of that lye along with some ED lye for a batch of cp.

If both of the labels state that the lye is 100% NaOH (or 99.9% or whatever) and you are measuring by weight and not volume (because the grains could be different sizes), I don't see how different brands could be an issue.

Nope. I did that a while back, I had a bit of hardware lye left and mixed it with food grade. My soap turned out fine.

Yep, you can mix them. I've done it several time with no issues.

i do this all the time, as i have a few suppliers for my lye. never had a problem so far.
