Lye without batch numbers

Can anyone tell me if I were to sell soap does the caustic soda have to have a batch number or can I buy in the shops. I'm a little confused with this and as in the PIF file doesn't it need batch numbers

I think there are two different points, for a safety assessment submission no you dont need batch numbers but for record keeping you should record batch numbers and/or where and when you purchased it. It helps you track down any production issues but also makes all the ingredients traceable should a problem occur.

If you are buying from general shops make sure you check the purity level as it can often gave other ingredients added in.
