HP Question

Hi everyone!

I have a question about HP. When do you add your herbs etc? Do you still do it at trace or do you wait until you are ready to pour?

The reason I ask is that today I made a Milk & Honey which is usually golden but when I did the HP part it become quite a bit darker. Should I have waited until pouring to add the powdered milk & honey?

If I'm using powdered milk, I add it at trace. I always add my honey after the cook. If I don't want my additives to go through the cook, then I add them after. But if I need the preservative action that lye and saponification offer, for instance food like mango or avocado, then I add it at trace.

Do you find that the soap is darker than it would be if you had only done a CP?

Yes it is much darker, but will lighten as it cools :wink:
